A Faerie Named Sally
Sally flitted about the trees, happy as could be! Being a faerie was fun, especially on a magical island like the Silent one of Crow. The great Emperor Beluga was a wonderful ruler, spreading his fog of sadness across the beautiful Island. Then there was the scary Ivanova, with her thorny trees and lightning and demons and her maniacal giggling. And now there was a new settler on the island, the Queen of the Forest, Lady Syrenna, with her forests green and her animals a-plenty. Such a wonderful place! And she thought, "Now with everyone having their own titles, I must have my own title too!" And she thought and thought... but nothing seemed to interest her. "I know my name is Sally and I know I am a faerie. But what can I do... I am nothing special!" And her face drowned in colour. Sally cried and cried. She was new to the Island, having arrived with the Forest Queen, and she felt as though she was not worthy to call the wonderful Island her home. "There must be something I can do?" She said between sniffles, "But what?" She edged up to Lady Syrenna, and saw all the little pretty flowers she had in her hand and hair. Everything that she saw around her was surrounded in wood and forest. She could hear the distant cries and roars of the monsters in the dark as well as the singing and conversing of the nicer creatures. She said, "Well, I know that I can fly... perhaps I can be a guardian of the forest!! Co-guardian to Lady Syrenna!" And she flew up through the thick trees, her blue body glittering lightly in between each leaf, and looked out to see anyone in trouble. "There must be someone in trouble in such a dangerous dark forest like this!" She looked around and there she saw Ivanova standing in a clearing. This puzzled the faerie, for Ivanova was not surrounded by her thorny trees. She was about to fly down and ask her where the trees had gone, but then she saw a horrible looking monster sneaking up behind Ivanova! It was much taller than any human she had ever seen, with red skin and writhing white hair. It had a large mouth full of fangs, and the scariest red eyes the faerie had ever seen! It crept silently towards Ivanova, but Ivanova didn't seem to hear it! "I have to help her!" The faerie thought before preparing herself to attack the scary beast! She flew up a metre to suck up all her energy, then sped down into the monster's eye. She swooped into it and the monster made a sudden jerk to the ground! Sally thought she did so well. She stuck a needle into its eye, but strangely the red skinned beast did not even cry one bit - he laughed! And he giggled! And said, "Look Ivanova! I feel pain. What joy it brings me, this pain! Don't you like to feel pain also?" Sally was so confused. Sally sat on the monster's forehead, feeling that it was safe, and asked, "Excuse me, is this your pet, Ivanova? Are you not in trouble? You seem to be calm. The Silent Island's thorny trees aren't following you at all. Usually they do when you're in a negative fit. What is going on?" And though the Ivanova in front of her did not speak, she heard a voice come from behind. "Uh, you might want to get off of that thing... It's not my pet and I was hiding in the trees so I could kill it!" The faerie turned and saw Ivanova behind her, a sword in her hand. She began to leave the forehead of the monster when it grabbed her and tried to shove her in its mouth! But it never got the chance, for Ivanova leapt forward and chopped off the beast's hand, along with its head! Both fell to the ground and lay there twitching and bleeding, before they finally went still. "Are you alright?" Ivanova asked, wiping the blood off her sword on one of the thorny trees that sprouted nearby, once she landed on the ground. "I just wanted to help!" Sally wailed before dissolving into sobs. Unseen by the pair of them, the head on the ground shook and shook, and as Ivanova sat with Sally, taking a branch from the standing thorny tree's limbs to stick a marshmallow on it, the head glowed a brighter red, like that of magma! Tendrils of blood oozed out of the monster's body, pooling around the head and the hologram projector. With a buzz and a scream, the hologram changed into redskin white hair monster's head number two! The blood then withdrew back into the monster's body, dragging both heads with it. That's right, kids, the monster now had two heads! It thrashed its tail at the thorny trees, sending them far into the sea, and it screamed and stomped on the ground. It had the most horrible breath and blew Ivanova and Sally tumbling to the bottom of the mossy hill! Ivanova and Sally crashed down the hill to land with a crunch at the bottom. They had slammed right onto the table where the Emperor Beluga and Lady Syrenna had been having their tea party! Sally flew up out of the mess, but the other three were unable to move because they were tangled in the thread the Emperor had been sewing with. The monster looked down from the top of the hill and let out a scream. "It looks like it doesn't want to come down!" the Emperor said happily. "No," Ivanova replied, "It's preparing to fly..." And they all looked up and saw that the monster's hands and mouth were stretching, and its skin spread out between the fingers to form wings. "It's going to attack us!" Lady Syrenna said, and they struggled to escape from their bindings. Unfortunately the Emperor had used indestructible thread (he was making sure that his stitches wouldn't pop) and so they were stuck. "Sally!" Ivanova called, "You have to save us!" Sally cried, "But I can't! I'm too weak!" The three Magical Royalties rocked crazily trying to get out of the thread. They were screaming and wailing so loudly. Sally shook her head over and over; she was in a fit of panic! She then took her little fingers and pressed them into the thread. She turned it into such soft material! "What the hell?!" yelled Sally, "How could I have done that? I don't know what that is!" Quickly the Emperor and Lady got up and ran to the black rose bush (what's this... "I think I see a Moody inside the petals," said the Emperor to Lady). Ivanova stood up and took her sword and stomped up the mossy hill, and being shorter than the giant monster, it could not see her near its feet! Ivanova raised her sword and- "Wait! Wait!" Emperor yelled out. "I do want to have this monster as my prize. Cut it up carefully! And you, you Sally faerie! Touch that monster for me, why don't you?" Sally was shocked. She had no idea why the Emperor would want to do that. She flew up with Ivanova and touched the monster with her magical soft fingers. Ivanova then shoved the sword up its stomach and cut it into many pieces! The Emperor yelled and jumped with laughter!! "Woo! Woo!! Again, again!!" It was such a great night... and from the night on, Sally sat to the side of Emperor Beluga's throne, waiting to see if he wanted anything to be turned into soft material... SO HE COULD SEW HIS WONDERFUL RENAISSANCE KING TAILCOAT! "And what a lavish tailcoat it'll be!" The Emperor yelled out happily. They slapped each other's hands. And Sally became... "The soft-finger material maker." The End |
